METHOD FOR THE SWIMMING POOL LEAK REPAIR TEST FOR THE POOL

SCOPE OF WORK.

This method statement describes the activities, which will be carried out in the construction of swimming pool for ‘testing of swimming pool leak repair shell for water tightness.

CLEANING OF POOL SHELL.

 Cleaning of the swimming pool leak repair shell to be by affected and swimming pool shell shall be filled with water End caps to be provided for all the inserts.

 TESTING OF SWIMMING POOL FOR WATER TIGHTNESS

 STABILIZING PERIOD

 When first filled, the water level should be maintained by the addition of further water for a stabilizing period while absorption and autogenously healing take palace. The preliminary stabilizing period will be 3 days. The water level will be monitored from the day the pool is completely filled to the required level. If top up water is not required after the first three days the ‘testing for Water tightness ‘of the structure will commence.

 EVAPORATION AND WIND LOSSES.

 Evaporation and wind losses in the swimming pool leak repair water level will be calibrated by the following method. An empty drum of plastic or metal will be placed in the pool. The top of the drum will be approx. 100 mm higher than pool water test level. The drum will be placed in the shallow area of the swimming pool. In case a drum of the required minimum height is not available the drum available will be raised on temporary supports to achieve the required height. The drum will be held in place with temporary supports. Water will be filled in the drum to 50mm above the level of pool water test level. Loss of water due to evaporation and wind losses will be same in the pool and the drum therefore equally affecting their water levels.

 TESTING FOR WATERTIGHTNESS:

 After the stabilizing period, the level of the water surface in the pool and the drum should be recorded at 24-hour intervals for a test period of a minimum of 3 days. After this 3 days test period the permissible drop in the pool water in comparison to the drum water level should not exceed 1/500th of the average water depth of the pool or 10mm (the greater of the two).
